Permanent RESIDENT VISA

There are different ways to immigrate to Canada depending on one’s situation, background, or experience. For young people with a certain education, good language ability, and at least one year of work experience in National Occupation Classification (NOC) Code A, O or B, the Federal Skilled Worker Class is the preferred option. Since 2015, this class has been administered through the Express Entry System, alongside the Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class and in some cases, Provincial Nominees Programs.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

Skilled workers are chosen based on their skills and ability to contribute to Canada’s economy. This category includes most professionals with occupation classification NOC A, O, or B. This Program requires that the applicants have a positive Credentials evaluation, good language scores, and adequate proof of Funds. In addition, they must not be inadmissible to Canada and must pass criminal record checks from all the countries they have lived in for a specified period of time. They have to score reasonably high in Express Entry ranking to be invited to apply for Permanent residency. There are a few more conditions that may need to be met.

Federal Skilled Trades Program

Federal Skilled Trades program targets skilled tradesmen/women with at least 2yrs of work experience in the last 5yrs in their trade. The experience has to be in National Occupational Classification identifiable in the Canadian system.

Canadian Experience Class

Canadian Experience Class is for people with at least one year of job experience in Canada in NOC A, O, or B, and must have gained experience under Temporary Residence status with authorization to work. Although there is no educational experience required for this class, graduating from a Canadian institution generally improve applicant’s chances
